Propelled People

Vishnu Kant

Founder of Propel

For many decades, and in various roles he has played in his personal and profession life, Vishnu has been asking –

  • What is the nature of that learning which frees the mind to look the present afresh, without the hang-over of the past?
  • What is that factor/element which makes it possible for the physical actions to be effortlessly aligned to feelings and thinking?
  • What is it that works best for learning, and what is it that works the most?
  • What could be enabling structures and tools that will propel a mind to learn, build knowledge and yet not be tethered to it?
  • What distinguishes a ‘freeing knowledge’ from the ‘binding knowledge’ even if all knowledge is limited by its very scope?

Vishnu chose education as a context to ask these questions, in multiple roles as a learner, teacher, school head, parent and a transformation-lab leader. Putting his life’s learning together, and working with a band of teachers, educators, researchers, writers, designers, illustrators, editors and IT professionals, Vishnu conceptualized and developed an experience-based curriculum that addresses the learning and performance needs of all stakeholders in a school.

Propel Curriculum is a living praxis – an enterprise that continually integrates progressive educational theories into elegant actionable frameworks and puts them into practice in schools and classrooms. It is a unique blend of product and processes, human effort and technology, face to face and online learning, active experiencing and passive observation, thinking hard to form robust and elegant conceptual frameworks and applying them in real life situation. Essentially, Propel Curriculum is an integrated system of teaching, learning, assessing and reporting that involves all stakeholders in the education of the child.

Propel addressed Vishnu’s questions and has given him a structure to raise questions with others, and help them find their answers. It has benefitted thousands of teachers, students, school leaders and parents since its creation in 2011.

Let it touch your life too, for you too seek meaning and freedom, knowingly or not.
